MISSION STATEMENT
Surma Times is dedicated to providing quality, accountable and community-focused reporting which will serve the interests of Bangladeshis at home and around the world. The Surma Times as an officially recognized Bangladeshi newspaper by the Government has a commitment to truthful reporting; independent editorial policy; and a dedication to the interest of the public through journalism that provides information, empowerment and connection among communities separated by geography.
We strive to:
- provide reliable news based on truthfulness and fact-checking;
- represent the voices and issues of Sylhet and the greater Bangladeshi community;
- strengthen diasporic ties by creating relevant and timely news for our audiences;
- to uphold neutrality, equity and transparency in all decision-making processes relative to editorial policies;
- use modern technology to ensure access to information for everyone;

VISION STATEMENT
The vision of Surma Times is to become one of the top Bangladeshi newspapers that are known globally – a trusted source of news, culture and community identity for both local and international readers. We plan to create a mix of old school journalistic credibility with new school innovative digital media platforms.
Surma Times envisions:
- a global stage connecting Bangladesh with its diaspora;
- a newsroom with an ethics of journalism and a voice for the community;
- a digital universe including open public tools, available information and new ways of telling stories;
- a media brand identified with integrity, independence and a sense of service to the public;
